General Description:  Designed to be powered by 24VAC (56VA) or low-voltage DC, this dual-voltage (non-isolated) switch-mode power supply operates at -40C to +85C ambient temperature. Low heat generation allows this small unit to be packaged into tight spaces. 5 year warranty.

Because this unit may be powered by AC or DC, under some circumstances, a battery may be connected to the DC input for automatic backup. See Application Note 9 for details.

Several standard output voltages are normally stocked with many non-stocked voltages between 3.3V and 24V available (up to 32V with DC input).

The total output power limit is 30W over the full temperature range or 40W up to +45C, with each voltage output limited to 3A. When powered by DC, the input voltage must be at least 10% above the highest output voltage - not to exceed 36VDC. The DC source's return is connected to the voltage-output returns (which are common to each other).

The power supply is not damaged by a short circuit at the voltage output terminals.

Two units may be cascaded to form a +\- unit, however, because these are non-isolated supplies, separate 24V power transformer windings are needed for each unit.

For applications not needing dual voltages, this unit can be supplied with half the board populated for a single 30W/40W output (PBX-30/24AC series). Also, this unit is available mounted in a chassis with a power transformer for 115/230VAC source applications.

Notes: The above currents are limits for each output. The higher current number applies to ambient temperatures up to +45C. At +85C, the lower number applies. The sum of the two outputs should not exceed 30W at +85C or 40W at +45C. Other non-stocked voltages (3.3V, 6V, 8V, 9V, 10V, 14V, 16V, 18V, 20V, 22V) are available with a 1-2 week lead time.
